FIJI COACH HELPS IN CHAMPIONSHIPS

NATIONAL swimming coach Sharon Pickering-Smith is coaching The Learning Centre in the 2018 Fiji National Schools Championship at the National Aquatic Centre in Suva. Pickering-Smith said the competition was something where young swimmers could learn to become better swimmers.

“It will be good to see the young swimmers compete from an early age,” she said.

“It is also a fun event for the swimmers, but at the same time they would be learning and get experience. “The schools’ national competition is a very good program which allows children to compete and learn to swim.”

The Learning Centre is a private school based in Rewa St in Suva.

“We will be having about 40 swimmers from different ages as the youngest is five years old with a 14-year-old being the oldest. “Our school won few events last year and they have got some good swimmers where some belong to swimming clubs in Suva with Dolphins Swim Club and Bale Swim Club. “Our 14-year-old Tolu Young and Salanieta Kunatuba are the top swimmers in the team.”

The competition starts on Friday at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre, Laucala Bay.
