Fiji Swimming is at the 2019 FINA World Long Course Championships in Gwangju, Korea. The team went into their first day of competition yesterday, Sunday July 21st and will be in competition for the next few days till Saturday, July 27th.

Since the team departed from Nadi only a day after arriving from Apia, the team spent the first few days before competition focusing on resting, relaxing and recharging after a physically and mentally demanding week in Samoa at the 2019 Pacific Games.

After the long travel to Gwangju, Team Manager, Mrs Marlene Blake and Head Coach, Mr Willie Elaisa have been preparing with the swimmers through various analyses and discussions on their performances from Samoa and their performance targets for Worlds.

Before the championships started on Sunday, the team started their physical preparations with light stretching from Tuesday July 16th, with a daily pool session that had a gradual increase in intensity. The team has completed two successful days of competition already, and are all positive and in high spirits. With the games village only 20minutes away from the pool venue, the team have established a comfortable routine and have received a timely boost from Speedo and Arena as they dive into this competition, where they are competing against the World’s best as they all prepare and suss out the competition as everyone continues their preparations for Tokyo2020.
