The Nadi Sports Club is the venue of the Short Course Grand Prix series. The meet today is the first of three SC GP competitions for the season, all of which are held at the Nadi Sports Club, with the 3 day finale hosted in Suva – the Short Course Nationals at the Damodar City Aquatic Center. The Grand Prixs are a qualifying event, providing swimmers with the opportunity to achieve qualifying times to become eligible for the Short Course Nationals.

These Grand Prix events allow all swimmers to participate in a maximum of 4 events at each competition. This first grand prix also includes some of our athletes who participated in the recent Pacific Games as well as the FINA Worlds in Korea. The Grand Prix event has clubs from Suva, Nadi and
Lautoka showcasing 255 athletes from 9 clubs including Babale, Barracuda, Dolphins, Great White, Mako, Marlin Bluez, Orca, Seals and Tritons. “This is also the final preparations for our four athletes who will be travelling to Budapest to take part in the FINA Junior World Championships later this month” Fiji Swimming Association President, Mr Ben Rova said. Our athletes to the FINA Junior World Champs include: Temafa Yalimaiwai, Hansel McCaig, Jodie-Anna Puamau and Rosemary Rova.

The SC season will continue for the next few months, and we expect some fantastic results throughout the season. The performances from the Pacific Games have boosted not only the returning team, but those here at home, the clubs, coaches, fellow swimmers, and extended community who are focused on taking our Federation to the next level.

We continue to thank our sponsors and friends who have been very supportive in our journey towards sporting excellence.
