FS COACHES PARTICIPATE IN FINA SWIMMING COACHES CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Fiji Swimming is proud to inform you that a Swimming Coaches Certification Program is being held at FASANOC today – Saturday 09.03.2019 through to Monday 11.03.2019. We have 26 coaches, representing various clubs across Fiji Swimming, registered to participate in this course.

The purpose is to offer all swimming coaches around the world the possibility to be
acknowledged as certified Swimming coaches and to offer recognition for the work they have accomplished.

Lecturer Mr John Stathis from Australia arrived into the country yesterday (08.03.2019) and will be in Suva to conduct the training. This is an accreditation course providing participants with the opportunity to become recognized Coaches across International swimming institutions around the world.

This opportunity has been possible through the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA). FINA is the international federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for administering international competition in water sports. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. At the core of this program, they believe in giving the opportunity to all coaches to progress and have credit for their achievements.

FINA currently oversees competition in six aquatics sports: swimming, diving, high
diving, artistic swimming, water polo, and open water swimming. FINA also oversees “Masters” competition (for adults) in the above disciplines. Fiji Swimming would like to take this opportunity to thank FINA for it’s ongoing support to see National Federations like ours get aligned to these International Standards.
