Historic Outing in Birmingham

It was a historic outing for Fiji Swimming at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The Men’s 4x100m Free Relay qualified for the finals swimming a time of 3:32.18s in the heats. The team consisting of Hansel McCaig, Herbert Rabua, Temafa Yalimaiwai and David Young placed 8th in the final setting a new national record of 3:31.46s.

This was Fiji Swimming’s biggest squad yet to any Commonwealth Games with a total of 8 swimmers (3 female & 5 male). Prior to the games Cheyenne, Taichi, Herbert and David attended a rigorous pre-games training camp at the Winchester Sport and Leisure Centre to help them prepare for the games.
