FIJI SWIMMING AGM

Fiji Swimming had their Annual General Meeting last Saturday (05/09/2020) at the Vodafone Arena VIP Lounge. Chaired by FS President Mr. Ben Rova, the meeting was incredibly detailed and robust as was his report on the past year (2019) that was.

Mr. Rova highlighted the effects that COVID-19 had on the FS fraternity directly and indirectly and coined the year 2020 as the year the world took a “time out” for a breather and rest.

Mr. Rova also expressed his delight after the relaxing of some sanctions by Government that has allowed FS to continue with some of their 2020 events that were planned.

“A lot of hard work has been put into place to get our competitions going again and for that, we must be grateful for the tireless work of our MoH Medical and Security people, Fiji Swimming Team, Clubs & Coaches and all our friends and supporters”

Ben Rova, FS President

The highlight of the meeting was the 5 major awards that FS scooped at the Sports Awards early this year.

The AGM also included a brief and detailed financial update, Let’s Swim Fiji PSP update and the 2019 Pacific Games. There was also a presentation of the 2020-2023 strategic planner and targets as well as plans to take Fiji Swimming to the next level.

Among-st some of those plans, FS will be conducting a series of squad training camps in the months to come. The camps will be aimed at giving FS Olympic hopefuls that competitive edge in terms of physical and mental preparedness.

“To everyone who contributed and made possible our successes in 2019…Vinaka Vakalevu from all of us at Fiji Swimming”

Ben Rova, FS President
