ROSS CLOCKS YOG QUALIFYING TIME

Day 4 of competition at the 2018 NZ AON Open Championships saw Fiji’s Netani Ross clock a Youth Olympic Games qualifying time.

Ross, who was part of the 4x50m Oceania medley relay team that won an Oceania bronze medal last week, clocked a personal best and B qualifying time of 27.60s in the heats of the 50m Backstroke.

Netani has made a B qualifying time for YOG. He has not automatically qualified for games but has made a qualifying time which organizers will consider and send invite for YOG. There are limited places and only those that have made QTs will be invited.” Ben Rova  

Later in the evening, after clocking a B qualifying time in the morning’s prelims, Netani set another personal best in the finals in a time of 27.54s.

The 17 year old SVC student had a previous personal best of 27.79s and considers the 50m and 100m backstroke as his two favorite events.

Ross has represented Fiji at the World Junior Championships, The NSW Australian States Championships, The 2016 and 2018 Oceania Area Championships.
