The final Grand Prix Series held on Saturday was the last official qualifying event for Team Fiji swimmers. This was confirmed by the Fiji Swimming president, Ben Rova at the Nadi Sports and Social Club.
“This is the last official qualifying event where swimmers are making times for qualification for the Age Groups National on November 14-15″ -Ben Rova
He said they would determine those who qualified on Monday.
“Some clubs have requested for some time trial and they are working with Fiji Swimming operations manager to set conditions and platform where they can conduct that competition. But otherwise all entries should be in where we will see the total numbers have made the qualifying times for the Age Group National.” -Ben Rova
Meanwhile, University of Fiji student, Taichi Vakasama aims to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on July 23- August 8, next year.
“My main aim is to qualify for A or B category for the 200metres breaststroke for the Olympics” -Taichi Vakasama
Netani Ross, 20, said with gym sessions and hard work in the pool, he’s determined he would qualify.
Marist Brothers High School student, Temafa Yalimaiwai said he was trying to keep up after the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown but was looking forward to qualifying for the Age Group Nationals.
