OCEANIA SWIMMING CHAMPS A SUCCESS

It was a riveting week and Fiji swimmers were empowered to face the challenges and their performances were outstanding.

 

Fiji Swim Team

On the last night of competition our Men’s relay team won our 9th Oceania medal (bronze) which was a very tight race and our young swimmers winning an extra 6 island medals.

It was Emotional when we saw our flag raised several times for the Oceania bronze and silver medals, winning Island medals in all categories and then we struck Oceania gold, and the Fiji National Anthem was played,” Lucy Erasito 

The team captains Epeli Rabua and Cheyenne Rova and the Fiji Local Coaches were the driving force in leading them to victory.

The Fiji Swim Team, victorious in producing 9 Oceania medals (1 GOLD, 3 Silver, 5 Bronze) and 16 Island Medals (5 Gold, 8 Silver ,3 Bronze), 4 Fiji records and 38 personal bests.

Every team member achieved a personal best and some more then 8 seconds. You have to admire the young 22-member team who were committed to perform throughout the week and they swam with enthusiasm and determination.

The Fiji Team arrived on Sunday evening with a great sense of pride and rightful ambassadors for Fiji.
